Millnic Media is a fairly small affiliate marketing network that offers site owners who don’t mind putting a little extra time into selecting their advertising campaigns another opportunity to monetize their sites and even their newsletters. The quirky, laid back attitude that this company projects distinguishes it from many of its competitors, and this approach seems to be working; while there are currently only 238 campaigns available through Millnic Media, the company has lately been growing both in size and popularity.
As mentioned, the main site for Millnic Media is written with a sense of humor, boasting of its virtues and jokingly calling people who don’t believe in the site’s superiority “assclowns.” If publishers don’t mind this laid-back approach, however, they can navigate the site fairly easily to find out about the opportunities the company offers, especially after creating an account. Through this one account, publishers can manage multiple sites and all of their campaigns.
Millnic Media mainly offers CPA and CPS campaigns, although it does have some CPC and co-registration opportunities. Some ad campaigns require publishers to download additional tools in order to run them, such as support for pop-ups and pop-unders, which are available through the affiliate network’s site. The ad types and offers vary widely by campaign, each of which has its own set of rules and rewards. Some ads are banners, while others let you create your own text links to offers, and still others are embedded in emailed newsletters.
There are also a variety of tools available to make managing an ad campaign easier; for example, Millnic Media allows its users to enable an optimized rotator so that their most successful ads will be shown the most frequently. This can help cut down on the time that publishers must spend selecting their campaigns and ad spaces. Additionally, new offers are displayed on a user’s homepage, so publishers don’t need to search to find out what’s new on the site.
Millnic Media offers a performance rewards program for well-performing affiliates, with prizes including jet skis and plasma televisions. Publishers also have the option of putting a referral link to the affiliate network on their site, and they receive 6% of the revenue of anyone they refer. This offer never expires.
While not explicitly stated on the site, conversations with support reveal that the completion of a tax form is strongly encouraged by the end of a publisher’s first year with the network. These forms are available on the company’s website.
Publishers using Millnic Media to monetize their sites can find campaigns to run in two different ways. They can either select a new or featured offer from the home page of their control panel, which is accessed through millnicmedia.com, or they can search for a campaign by category, campaign type, banner type, country, keyword, or other characteristics.
After selecting a campaign, publishers simply select the ad type they wish to run for the campaign; options vary greatly between different offers. They can then enter any text to go with the ad, if that is necessary, or simply create the ad and deploy it onto their site.
Many tools for publishers are also available through the control panel. These include the previously mentioned tools to enable certain features like pop-ups and pop-unders and the optimized rotation tool, but there are also several others, including a banner rotation tool, a banner rotation by category tool, and a tool that enables you to view the statistics on your deployed creatives, among others.
Finally, the control panel allows users to set which notifications they would like to receive from the affiliate network, cutting down on the amount of spam mail to which they are subjected.
The ad types and formats available through Millnic Media vary by campaign, but they include banners, customizable text links, and email ads to embed in newsletters, among other less common formats.
The home page of the control panel at Millnic Media displays a publisher’s total commission, month-to-date commission, commission earned the previous day, and commission earned today.
The statistics tab offers more detailed information, displaying earnings by campaign or for all campaigns and for any date range. The statistics offered include impressions, clicks, leads, click-through ratio, sign-up percentage, total sales, earnings per click (if applicable), payout, and total earnings, as well as displaying the stats for each banner or ad type running that campaign.
The payment tab tells publishers how much money they have pending and how much they have already been paid by the affiliate network, allowing them to track where their revenues are.
Millnic Media requires prospective members to complete a simple online application, which they review within 24-48 hours.
Site requirements put forth by the network include having an English-only site which owns its domain and receives at least 100,000 unique views per month. No incentives may be offered for clicks.
While Millnic Media boasts of their liberal site allowances, which include allowing forums to post their ads, they do not allow any sites whose content is of an adult, hateful, or illegal nature to join their network.
Revenues are processed at the end of each week and the lowest available payment threshold is $100, although it can be set higher, to a rate of up to $1000/week. Payments are available either by check or via PayPal.
Millnic Media probably has one of the easiest to reach support systems of any online company. They are available by phone, AIM, Gmail talk, and by snail mail. The site claims that they are available on AIM for most hours of the day, and when this review was written, two company representatives were available, one of whom had been online for over six hours. Like the website, Millnic Media’s support team has a sense of humor in chats and is generally friendly and helpful.
Although Millnic Media is not a large network, it is growing and offers site owners a way to choose and closely manage their campaigns. This is a good alternative for publishers to consider if they would like to try affiliate marketing, and will probably improve as the company gets larger and attracts more advertisers.
